Your journey begins with a detailed consultation with Dr. Sistare. During this meeting, you’ll: Discuss your goals and concerns, undergo a physical evaluation to determine if you’re a good candidate, and learn about the liposuction techniques available and the expected outcomes.

The Procedure

Liposuction is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under general or local anesthesia. Dr. Sistare uses tumescent liposuction, a safe and effective technique that involves injecting a saline solution into the treatment area to: Break apart fat cells for easier removal, minimize bleeding and bruising, and numb the area for a more comfortable experience. Once the tumescent solution is administered, a small cannula (a thin, hollow tube) is inserted through tiny incisions to suction out the fat. The incisions are so small that they often require only a single suture, leaving minimal scarring.

Liposuction Recovery

After liposuction, you can expect: Some swelling and bruising, compression garment requirement to reduce swelling and help the skin conform to your new contours, and mild discomfort manageable with over-the-counter medications. Patients are encouraged to move around within the first day or two to promote circulation and prevent complications.
